The official Instagram account of Italian outwear specialist Peuterey was hacked on Thursday. All the images posted over the years were deleted and Peuterey temporarily lost its 17,000 followers.

According to the company, the hacker also tagged all the images appearing on the accounts of celebrities who mentioned and tagged the fashion label.

In order to inform its followers and clarify the situation, on Friday Peuterey posted a message on its official Facebook page.

“Dear followers, the sudden emptiness of the Peuterey Instagram feed is not the result of some bizarre marketing plan, but the outcome of an unexpected hacker’s attack,” reads the message appearing on Facebook. “We are currently dealing with the IG support team in order to solve the problem as promptly as possible, restoring back our consistent picture archive as well as our growing followers base. Being optimistic and finding good even in a bad situation, this is the occasion for us to renew our direct and open communication line with our public. #Realitytelling for Peuterey means telling things how they are.”

A company’s spokeswoman said that Peuterey’s Instagram account will be restored over the weekend.
