HONOR SYSTEM: Pierre Bergé — longtime partner of Yves Saint Laurent, media magnate and president of AIDS charity Sidaction — was made a Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor, France’s highest civilian decoration, on New Year’s Day.
Jean-Paul Claverie, an adviser to LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton chairman and chief executive officer Bernard Arnault, was promoted to Officer of the Legion of Honor in the annual list. Claverie was instrumental in the construction of the recently opened Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris.
Several executives in the cosmetics industry were also singled out.
Mathilde Cathiard-Thomas, founder of skincare company Caudalie; Hugues Dusséaux, president of new ventures at LVMH perfumes & cosmetics, and François Luscan, president and ceo of packaging manufacturer Albéa, were made Knights of the Legion of Honor.
