The renovated web site dedicated to the iconic Pirelli Calendar was launched this week to offer a full behind-the-scenes experience of the upcoming edition and extra contributions on “The Cal” heritage.
Pirellicalendar.com debuted with exclusive content, such as a brief interview to Peter Lindbergh, who has been tapped to shoot the 2017 edition. The German photographer is the first in more than 50 years of Pirelli Calendar’s history to be invited to lens The Cal for the third time, after teaming with the Italian tire company for the 1996 and 2002 editions. The 2017 Calendar will be revealed at the end of November.
In addition to the interview, images of the locations and backstage videos also feature in the web site’s “Behind the Scenes: Making of the Cal” section, which aims to follow step-by-step Lindbergh’s and Pirelli’s teamwork and will be enriched with new contents over the coming months. For instance, the names of the new protagonists will be announced starting from next week.
The web site also features an “Icons” area, which gathers interviews with prominent personalities of art, culture, fashion, sport and music, including singer Andrea Bocelli, ballet dancer Roberto Bolle, designer Tommy Hilfiger and tennis champion Serena Williams.
The “Stories” section lines up the initiatives regarding The Cal and the world of art, like exhibitions and worldwide presentations, while the “Time Machine” area retraces the 43 editions of the Calendar through images and videos, divided in decades.
Launched in 1964, The Cal has been known for showcasing top models and acclaimed photographers, becoming a must-have, limited-edition item for collectors. Last year’s Pirelli Calendar was shot by Annie Leibovitz.
