ON A ROLL: Preciously Paris, the Paris-based brand specializing in hand-embroidered bags, is Miami-bound. Carole Tessier, its founder, has teamed with Laure Hériard Dubreuil, The Webster chief executive officer and cofounder, to create a clutch bag for the Miami boutique.
“I met with Laure during Art Basel Miami Beach,” said Tessier, a former architect and interior decorator. “Laure picked a vintage wallpaper that’s at her store — it was our inspiration for the aquariumlike motif with fishes on a black background,” she explained.
The bag is slated to hit the Miami store during the upcoming edition of the sprawling art fair Art Basel Miami Beach in December. It comes in two sizes, the smaller format being priced at around $1,900; the larger one at around $2,300. Another handbag, with a cowboy-boots theme, is in the works for The Webster’s Houston boutique.
In the meantime, Tessier is mulling its third trunk show with Moda Operandi that’s set for July. It consists of a 12-piece collection of tweed and satin-lined clutches created exclusively for the e-tailer. The collection, which can be customized, is called “Who Is Who” and includes models festooned with “Lauren” or “LSD”, as a nod to Moda Operandi’s cofounder Lauren Santo Domingo.
Coming up next in October, Preciously Paris is to present its spring 2017 collection called “Swim With Marilyn” of 10 bags inspired by Marilyn Monroe, the photographs of Slim Aarons and the work of architect Richard Neutra. They’re to be displayed at Valery Demure’s showroom during Paris Fashion Week. Each model comes in a limited edition of 38 bags.
Tessier said each bag required between 20 to 30 hours of work in Paris ateliers. The brand currently counts dozens of retailers worldwide including Colette in Paris, Fenwick in London, Just One Eye in Los Angeles and Kirna Zabête in New York.
