CALIFORNIA BABY: The Gymboree is getting a lot more colorful now that Rachel Pally is launching a baby line. Pally, who built her 14-year-old contemporary business on chic but comfortable jersey separates, has her own fit model to thank: her 10-month-old son, Tao. After scouring Etsy for cute pants to help her son stand out, she decided to create her own onesies, tees, pants, dresses and blankets that pop with fun prints such as digitally enhanced tie dyes and cartoon-like arrowheads. The brand extension is also an easy segue from dressing expecting moms such as Angelina Jolie and Molly Sims in her maternity frocks to outfitting their tots in the same stretchy Modal jersey. Retailing from $29 to $80, the baby line will be introduced on Pally’s Web site in February. For an exact mommy and me look, some of the prints even match those in the women’s line. Still, Pally said, “It’s fun to find something that none of the other kids in his class are wearing.”
