Rachel Roy continues to expand her design reach with the arrival of Rachel Rachel Roy Curvy Collection this week in select Macy’s doors and online. “It’s something I’ve wanted to start since my customers have been asking for larger sizes since 2006,” she said. The 45-piece spring collection mirrors many of the same styles in the regular-size line, and ranges from $55 to $179 retail. Plus-size model Candice Huffine is the face of the campaign.

“I’m not stuck on size, it’s more of a mind-set, a brand extension, and it should be effortless,” said Roy, who will also offer the pieces on her Web site in March. Roy will host a dinner in Los Angeles on Feb. 18 to mark the launch with models Huffine, Denise Bidot and Jordyn Wood.

The designer is also publishing her first book next month called “Design Your Life,” based on tips she’s learned from her fashion business experience. In addition, a mini jewelry collection called Love Bomb, made from pieces of bombs that went off in Vietnam, will launch March 2 on her site as well as other artisanal jewelry sites.

Roy still aspires to open her own store, and begin dressing famous faces for everyday and daytime events. “While it’s fun to create a red carpet moment, that takes a whole separate department to get right. If I can hit the day-to-day aspects of a woman’s life, that’s the goal for right now.”
