Simon & Schuster will publish Ralph Lauren’s autobiography in the fall of 2017.

The work — which will be published in hardcover, e-book and audio editions in the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Australia and India — will coincide with the celebration of his company’s 50th anniversary.

Simon & Schuster, which has the world rights, said a dialogue began four years ago about the American designer telling his story of rising from the Bronx to become one of the world’s most admired and well-known businessmen with a brand that is recognized everywhere.

Carolyn Reidy, chief executive officer of Simon & Schuster, said, “Ralph Lauren is a true American original who has built one of the world’s greatest, most iconic fashion brands and lifestyle empires.”

The publishing house is part of CBS Corp. It has published books by Bruce Springsteen, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
