RETROSUPERFUTURE EYES SILVER LAKE: Milan-based contemporary eyewear brand Retrosuperfuture will open its second retail store, in Los Angeles’ Silver Lake neighborhood, on Wednesday.
The 1,900-square-foot shop, at 3531 Sunset Boulevard, is designed by Mexico City-based firm Savvy Studio. The raw, modern space mirrors the brand’s New York store with concrete floors, exposed brick walls, black marble countertops and light wood tables. All of the company’s brands, including Retrosuperfuture, Super and collections for Carhartt WIP and APC, are displayed on signature “all-in-one” tables that also serve as private stations to try on frames.
“We are creating an ethos as well as a store,” said founder and chief executive officer Daniel Beckerman. “The U.S. is an important market for us and Los Angeles is the logical next step for the brand, both for the city’s overall approach to life and its cutting-edge style. With the new store, we not only hope to showcase our new products, but also to build a space that the local creative community can relate to.”
The brand’s next store will open in Dubai in November and Beckerman alluded to more plans for retail expansion in the near future. Retrosuperfuture currently wholesales to over 1,500 doors in 20 countries.
