SANTA CAVALLI: Roberto Cavalli will be swapping his trademark black for something decidedly more festive come Christmas. “Of course I’m going to be Santa Claus — what do you expect? — I have seven grandchildren,” said the designer, who plans to spend the holiday with his family at home in Florence. On Dec. 26 he intends to ditch the Santa garb and head to Dubai for work — and some sun — he told WWD late last week following a festive lunch at C Restaurant in Mayfair, which he hosted with his wife, Eva.

Cavalli said he plans to spend New Year’s Eve in Dubai, too. What the new year will bring, however, remains a mystery. The prospect of a new owner for Cavalli’s company seems increasingly remote. The designer once again waved away the possibility of a sale after negotiations with VTB Capital hit a bump, as reported. Cavalli reiterated that he has no desire to sell his company, and that he wants to move forward with his current team, which he said he loves.
