ADIOS, GUAPO: The invitation to Jean Paul Gaultier’s farewell ready-to-wear show on Saturday — a red, white and blue sash bearing the words “Miss Jean Paul Gaultier” — has already given away the display’s beauty pageant theme.
More details emerged at the Acne Studios show, where Rossy de Palma revealed she would make another catwalk turn for Gaultier, whose costumes she wore in “Kika.”
“I can’t say anything more,” she said, promising the event would be in Gaultier’s trademark irreverent spirit. “You all have to wear [the sash]. It will be fun to see the whole audience like that.”
It will be a bittersweet occasion for the muse of Pedro Almodóvar, one of Gaultier’s favorite actresses.
“On the one hand, it’s sad. On the other hand, it will be an incredible and historic celebration, because Jean Paul has nothing left to prove. And I also think it will be amazing for him, because doing a ready-to-wear show every six months is a form of slavery,” she said, noting the designer would focus on haute couture, fragrances and other projects.
“Jean Paul is such a creative man that he won’t be bored at all,” de Palma predicted. She herself has another fashion project up her sleeve, but was keeping the details under wraps.
