ROUND TWO: Kering and Parsons The New School for Design are teaming up for the second edition of “Empowering Imagination,” the annual contest giving the school’s graduating B.F.A. Fashion Design students a chance to gain an internship at one of the conglomerate’s brands. This year, joins as a partner and the site started profiling the 14 finalists from Wednesday through May 15.

“At Kering, we believe in nurturing the next generation of talent and staying in close touch with the upcoming young designers,” said Laurent Claquin, head of Kering Americas.

In addition to Claquin, contest judges include Paper Magazine’s Mickey Boardman, Barneys New York’s Dennis Freedman, Eco Age’s Livia Firth,’s Dirk Standen and Parsons’ Simon Collins, who noted, “For these students, the opportunity to have their work presented to such a wide audience of fashion influencers, and also gain experience working with one of Kering’s illustrious brands, is one few fashion designers are afforded.” will also provide the students with a mentoring session, and Barneys will feature looks from the final 14 collections at its Madison Avenue flagship.
