MAJESTIC MUGGLES: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry got the royal treatment — cinematically speaking — earlier today during a tour of the new Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire, outside London, on Friday. The two full-blood princes and the pregnant Duchess, who wore a Ralph Lauren jacketover a black-and-white, polka dot Topshop dress, toured the studios where films from the Harry Potter, James Bond, Dark Knight, and Star Wars franchises were made. The royals learned the tricks of wizardry and wand wielding, while Prince William was able to climb onto the Batpod and into the Batmobile. “I think we need that for a weekend,” said William to Harry as he slid into the latter, according to Britain’s Press Association. In a speech during the visit, the elder prince poked fun at his brother: “Harry’s just excited to see a real life talking owl in the Harry Potter studios. I haven’t told him yet that Harry Potter is fictional, so please keep the secret for a little longer.” The trio also met studio executives and toured the facility with a group of children and parents linked with the charity institutions the royals support. Warner Bros. officially took over Leavesden studios last June, after having invested 100 million pounds, or $154 million, in updating the facility.
On Sunday, the Duchess released her first-ever video message, in support of hospice care for children with terminal medical conditions and their families. Wearinga black Topshop dress with a white Peter Pan collar, the video was released on the Internet to mark the start of Children’s Hospice Week in the U.K.
“Children’s Hospice Week is a time to recognize, celebrate, and support the inspirational work of these hospices, and those who provide palliative care to these children and families,” she said. “Children’s hospices provide lifelines to families at a time of unimaginable pain. The support they give is vital.”
The message was recorded at Clarence House, with the Duchess sitting in front of a fireplace. One of her official wedding photos on the table next to her. On Monday the Duchess will make a visit to Naomi House children’s hospice in Hampshire, near London.
