STRONG FOUNDATIONS: The Salon International de la Lingerie in Paris has named Simone Pérèle its Designer of the Year. The award will be presented at a press conference on Jan. 21, the first day of the trade show. The three-day event will be held at the Porte de Versailles.
Founded in 1948 in Paris, the family-owned firm, which owns 14 subsidiaries and counts 1,600 employees worldwide, produces 3.5 million pieces yearly. The intimate apparel brand, which is helmed by third-generation family members Mathieu Grodner-Pérèle and Stéphanie Pérèle, opened its first own-name boutique in April, with an e-shop planned for April 2017.
Key moments in the brand’s timeline included the launch of the Pétale bra in 1968, billed as the first wireless and invisible bra available up to a C cup.
Previous SIL award winners include Hanro, Marjolaine, Andres Sarda and Lise Charmel.
