BLACK, WHITE AND GRAY: The sea of people sporting black at the Saatchi Gallery on Thursday night was a fitting complement to the 34 moody photographs that lined the walls of “Second Floor,” an exhibition of photographs of Coco Chanel’s private apartments on Rue Cambon in Paris by the artist and director Sam Taylor-Johnson.
“It was just Aaron (Taylor-Johnson, her husband) and I fooling around with my Leica in Paris,” she said. “We didn’t use any lights, it was just us as the sun went down. I really got a sense of [Chanel’s] loneliness, of a sense of her heartbreak there.”
Guests at the opening included Jamie Dornan, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Poppy Delevingne, Amelia Warner, Patrick Grant, Claudia Winkleman, Gala Gordon, Laura Bailey, Solange Azagury-Partridge and Otis Ferry.
Dornan, who plays bondage enthusiast Christian Grey in the Taylor-Johnson directed “50 Shades of Grey,” said he is unprepared for the heartbreak he is about to unleash on the world’s female population. “I know things will probably get a little crazy, but I can’t prepare for something I’ve never experienced,” he said.
