TAKING CONTROL: The Sankari family, which owns Paris Group and controls the Gianfranco Ferrè brand, said it will take on the operative direction of the company, with plans to nominate a new board shortly. Ahmed Sankari, sole administrator of the house, has taken on the role of general director, which was held by Michela Piva until Oct. 14. The plan is to open three new boutiques in the Middle East by the end of the year and to invest 100 million euros, or $137.4 million at current exchange, in an industrial plan. This follows a meeting requested to question the management of the firm, which was held last month between the minister of economic development and the three state-appointed administrators who oversaw the sale of Ferré to Dubai-based Paris Group in February. The owners of Paris Group were a no-show and the meeting was rescheduled for Nov. 11, according to sources.
