SCOTT KAY ACQUIRED: The Scott Kay Inc. fine jewelry brand has been acquired by High Line Precious Acquisition LLC, an affiliate of jewelry manufacturer Frederick Goldman Inc., for an undisclosed amount. The sale follows the death of the designer, Scott Kay, on Dec. 4 of a heart attack at age 57. Kay was known for high quality bridal, wedding and fashion jewelry. Jonathan Goldman, chairman and chief executive officer of Frederick Goldman, said, “The acquisition offers us the ability to build upon a very well recognized and respected consumer brand name.” Frederick Goldman’s brands include ArtCarved and Keepsake and compete with Scott Kay, although Scott Kay has higher price points.
Scott Kay will likely continue to be based in Teaneck, N.J. A spokeswoman for Frederick Goldman said David Minster, Scott Kay’s ceo, will be leaving the company, while Frederick Goldman’s Adam Gurian, executive vice president of global sales and merchandising, will become general manager of the Scott Kay brand.
