BIRDS OF A FEATHER: Serkan Cura, best known for his arresting feather creations, has teamed with Fast Retailing’s Comptoir des Cotonniers. The Belgian couturier and Jean Paul Gaultier alum has designed two versions of the label’s popular ultra-light down jackets.
Cura added marabou feathers to the nylon puffers that use technology developed by Uniqlo, which like Comptoir is part of Japan’s Fast Retailing Co. Ltd. “We have embroidered the body with snaps, so you can attach the [feather parts] wherever you want. It’s like a puzzle,” Cura explained.
The limited edition of 200 pieces is to retail for 525 euros and 625 euros, or $679 and $809 at current exchange, respectively. The jackets are slated to hit select Comptoir des Cotonniers stores in mid-November.
The unlikely collaboration marks Cura’s first venture into ready-to-wear.
