SHOWTIME: IWC Schaffhausen is joining the Tribeca Film Festival once again as the event’s official “Festival-Time” partner. For its second year in the role, the Swiss watchmaker has designed a special edition of its Pilot Spitfire Chronograph watch for the 2014 festival. Production of the piece, engraved with the festival’s insignia, will be limited to 100 pieces.

“We wanted to create a watch that would really stand out but still remain iconic to the brand,” said ceo Georges Kern. “The combination of the slate dial with the bordeaux subdials has quite a vivid, theatrical quality — it’s what makes it special and specific to the Tribeca Film Festival.”

The brand will also produce a single style in red gold to be auctioned off at the Antiquorum timepiece auction house on April 9. All proceeds from the auction will go toward the Tribeca Film Institute. Additionally, a $25,000 grant will be presented to the winner of the IWC Filmmaker Award, to be revealed at the “For the Love of Cinema” event on April 17.
