Anastacia and Blumarine have teamed to create a collection of eyewear, a collaboration that stems from a longstanding friendship between the singer and the Italian brand’s founder and designer Anna Molinari. “We’ve been friends since 2002, she designed clothes for my tour in 2004 and I was there when Anna needed, with a phone call or just sending her a flower,” said Anastacia, referring to the tragic death of Molinari’s husband Gianpaolo Tarabini in 2006. “It came from a conversation; I’d been interested in doing a line of glasses, and asked her if she’d think of working together.” The result is a selection of 10 models, both optical and sunglasses, said the artist, at the Blumarine show, pointing to one such design with small sparklers and a silver A resting on the arms. “She came with an A-game,” said Anastacia, making a fist. Responding to one reporter, who asked her about her clothing choices, she said, “I’m a curvy woman with shapes and I don’t want to hide them, I want to show off what God has given me.” The black, body-hugging look worn at the show said it all.
