SKIPPING THE RUNWAY: Marios Schwab is taking a step away from the runway-show circuit. As of the fall season in February, the London-based designer will hold appointments for editors in London to show the collection, and will release images of the collection to press Feb. 20. Schwab said Tuesday that the aim is to create “a more personal and captivating environment for my collections.”
“Every garment has its own story and I want to…allow viewers to explore and experience each piece in a way that feels authentic,” the designer said. Schwab, who is of Greek and Austrian descent, has shown independently at London Fashion Week since the spring 2007 season. The new presentation setting will see the label focus on its “artisanal roots,” Schwab noted, with the emphasis on the designer’s cocktail and eveningwear. The company noted that the new direction will see Schwab further develop his in-house atelier.
Sales for the fall collection will be held at Rainbowwave’s Paris showroom from March 5 through 13, also by appointment.
