SLIMMING DOWN: London tailor Spencer Hart has shut its longstanding shop at 36 Savile Row as part of a major restructuring of the business. However, the brand’s second store, at 62-64 Brook Street across from Claridge’s, remains open. Spencer Hart was founded by the designer Nick Hart in 2002 and is famous for its old school, Rat Pack-inspired glamour and bespoke, made-to-measure, and ready to wear clothing. It is now in the process of paying its creditors as part of what is known in the U.K. as a company voluntary agreement (CVA), according to David Rubin & Partners, appointed liquidators for one of the Spencer Hart businesses. A Spencer Hart spokesperson declined to comment about the business on Wednesday. Spencer Hart’s clientele includes a lineup of actors such as Dan Stevens, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ioan Gruffudd and Michael Fassbender. The designer has shown during London Collections: Men.
