STAR ATTRACTION: Watches are not the only attractions at Baselworld: The annual watch and jewelry fair has also proved a magnet for celebrities. While Chinese actress Li Bingbing inaugurated the renovated Gucci Timepieces & Jewelry booth, rumor had it a Thai princess was quietly checking out the novelties at Bulgari. There was a crush at the Zenith stand when Felix Baumgartner dropped in on the eve of the fair’s official opening. The Austrian daredevil, who wore a Zenith El Primero Stratos when he broke the sound barrier during his historic 24-mile skydive, appears in a new ad campaign for the brand.

Rapper and producer Swizz Beatz was on hand to unveil the Hublot Inspiration noise-cancelling headphones that will hit stores this summer, priced at 1,900 Swiss francs, or $2,020 at current exchange. The project is a collaboration between the watch brand and Monster, the firm that developed the Beats by Dre headphones.

JeanRichard held a press conference to present its new brand ambassador, Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger. JeanRichard chief operating officer Bruno Grande said their cooperation would be based on the number 208 — that’s how many seconds it took Sullenberger to land his stricken airliner on New York’s Hudson River in 2009.

“I never knew on which 208 seconds my entire career, my entire life might be judged,” the retired pilot said. “I’m so glad to join the JeanRichard brand and go forward with hopefully a collaboration on a new design or two.”
