THROWBACK THURSDAY: Stella McCartney got the jump on Oktoberfest in more ways than one Thursday night with a party at the St. Emmeramsmühle beer garden in Munich’s English Garden.
The party’s co-hosts, mytheresa.com founders Susanne and Christoph Botschen, were joined by Joshua Schulman, president of Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus Group International, the soon-to-be new owner of Mytheresa and the Theresa flagship store in Munich.
Then, all things being Stella, the traditional Oktoberfest and beer garden fare got veggie-maxed, with vegetarian hot dogs, vegetarian mini-burgers (or shall we say Fleischpflanzerl minus the Fleisch), chicoree leaves with traditional Bavarian Liptauer, plus Bavarian Obzada cheese on crusty bread, radishes, pretzels, gingery Lebkuchen and — to wash it all down — Tattinger Champagne and local beer.
For fun and games, there was a traditional carousel and Bavarian singers and dancers outfitted in vegan lederhosen. But of course, there was other fashion about as models dressed in the spring 2015 Stella McCartney collection, which will go online at mytheresa.com in November, mingled with guests. These included Daisy Lowe; the music world’s Mimi Xu; Wolf Alice’s Ellie Roswell; Princesses Minzi zu Hohenlohe-Jagstberg, Marie-Cécile von Furstenberg and Annina Biron von Curland, and German actresses Julia Dietze, Emilia Schüle, Alicia von Rittberg and Cleo von Adelsheim.
Noting Oktoberfest is now in its 181st year, McCartney said: “I really wanted to have fun and take part in this great tradition by bringing a little bit of Stella to Munich.”
