SYBILLA’S NEW PRIZE: Spanish designer Sybilla has won the Ministry of Culture’s Premio Nacional de Diseño de Moda 2015 that includes a prize of 30,000 euros, or $36,464 at current exchange, roughly one year after relaunching her namesake brand. In the past, the prestigious fashion award has gone to designers such as Josep Font, Delpozo’s creative director, and Spain-born shoe designer Manolo Blahnik. The impish Sybilla, who is aggressively testing U.S. waters with accounts in If in New York and Blake in Chicago, told WWD: “Our U.S. sales went really well last season and our beautiful Mercer Street pop-up store is still open. I am really enjoying this tour of pop-ups; we have been in Majorca, Barcelona, New York and Madrid is coming up. It’s like a circus going from town to town and each store is a celebration.”
