Thakoon Panichgul’s Addition Line Pops Up at Satine Boutique

In Los Angeles on Thursday for the pop-up shop's debut, the designer said he's devoting more time to the secondary line, now in its second season.

THAKOON’S L.A. STORY: Thakoon Panichgul made a stop in Los Angeles on Thursday for the debut of his Addition line pop-up shop within Satine boutique, noting “I’m only here like twice a year, but I’d actually love to live here.” He then admitted that he often visits family in nearby Palos Verdes, Calif. but when he in is Southern California, “I hide away. It’s better to be under the radar.” The designer said he’s devoting more time to the secondary line, in its second full season, by adding more tailored pieces, knits and outerwear alongside its signature print dresses. And he’s getting a jump on his signature Resort and Spring 2014 collections. “I’m set with fabric and colors. like to get the meat and potatoes done early,” he said. It was perhaps the lack of last-minute stress that made the designer so relaxed at the low-key affair, where the only photographer was a Satine buyer snapping Instragram photos with her iphone, and the few guests in the second-floor loft space included Tara Subkoff, who is at work on a painting for the Venice Biennale; stylist and Holmes & Yang designer Jeanne Yang and Jessica Joffe. Satine owner Jeannie Lee, long a champion of pop-up shops, on Monday opened a four-month Satine pop-up in the nearby coastal town of Manhattan Beach.
