LONDON — The Duchess of Cambridge chose an inky blue silk gown from Jenny Packham’s fall/winter 2013 collection for the 100 Women In Hedge Funds philanthropic initiatives reception and dinner in the State Apartments at Kensington Palace, where the royal couple have a residence.

On Thursday night, just a day after her son, Prince George, was christened at St James’s Palace, the Duchess attended the event, which was held in aid of the charity Action on Addiction, for which she, her husband Prince William and Prince Harry are all patrons. The organization works across the addiction field in research, prevention, treatment, professional education and support.

While talking with guests, she said that her son, the third in line for the throne had been “such a good boy” at his christening and that she had left him “fast asleep” in order to attend the fundraising dinner.
