THE OSCAR GOES TO…: Carnegie Hall. On April 24, Oscar de la Renta will be honored with the Carnegie Hall Medal of Excellence at a gala benefit at The Plaza’s Grand Ballroom. Sanford I. Weill, chairman of Carnegie Hall’s board of trustees, will present de la Renta with the award, “As a beloved and dedicated trustee, Oscar has lent his creative talent to furthering Carnegie Hall’s mission since 1987,” Weill said.
As for the designer, he has more than just the medal to look forward to that night. Following the ceremony, Julio Iglesias will perform at Carnegie Hall for the first time in 25 years.
