“I love you England! I am so proud to be British,” said Charlotte Tilbury, who scooped not one but two awards at the annual CEW UK beauty awards ceremony on Friday.
Tilbury, the British makeup artist turned color cosmetics entrepreneur, won for best new brand and for best British brand, mass or prestige, at the event that took place at the Hilton Park Lane in London. The event saw a mix of big brands and independents win. Burberry and Jimmy Choo walked home with awards, for best new women’s fragrance, prestige, for My Burberry; and best new men’s fragrance, prestige, for Jimmy Choo: Man. Bourjois, meanwhile, nabbed two awards, one for its CC Cream and another for its Magic Remover Hands & Feet. Benefit Cosmetics won a prize for its They’re Real! Push-Up Eyeliner.
In addition to Tilbury, other small or independent brand winners included Aromatherapy Associates, for its Inner Strength Bath Oil; Percy & Reed for its Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm; and Bee Good in the category of best new brand.
Bee Good is a skincare line made with honey, propolis, and beeswax, and upon receiving the award, a company spokeswoman thanked “all the British bees for supplying everything to us.”
