MOBILE HOTSPOT: Despite dipping January temperatures on Wednesday night, a smattering of New York’s elite stopped by Paul’s Baby Grand to toast one of their own, Lauren Remington Platt, and the launch of her new Vênsette Beauty app. Hosted in conjunction with Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs, the event celebrated Remington Platt’s mobile service platform, which unites consumers with local makeup artists who make house calls to deliver specific looks from a curated digital portfolio. “We want to show that beauty services can be a lot like mobile companies like Uber and HandyBook. It’s about using technology for fragmented markets,” said Remington Platt, in a maroon Cushnie et Ochs cocktail dress. “The beauty industry hasn’t evolved in the way others have and it’s part of a larger conversation about changing consumer behavior.”

For Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs, who will reveal their fall 2014 collection on Feb. 7, the app was something worth celebrating. “We shouldn’t be out tonight,” laughed Cushnie. “But we hosted this event with Lauren because we think it’s a genius idea.” When asked what fans can expect of their upcoming line, Ochs remained tight lipped. “It will be very classically Cushnie but with a new perspective that people won’t expect from us,” she said. The evening also drew the likes of Hayley Bloomingdale and Indre Rockefeller, Erin Fetherson, Michelle Harper, Jenne Lombardo, Lola Rykiel and Sophie Theallet.
