Todd Snyder is getting into the outlet business.
On March 15, the designer will open his first outlet store at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in Central Valley, N.Y. The store will be located in the center’s Adirondacks section alongside other men’s brands including John Varvatos, Paul Smith, Hugo Boss and Ralph Lauren. The 1,000-square-foot shop will feature a pass-through to American Eagle Outfitters, the brand that owns the Todd Snyder label.
“The location is amazing and it’s right next to the food hall,” Snyder said, adding that he expects the store to attract both locals from the New York metropolitan area as well as tourists.
“We have a lot of international business and fans of the brand from around the world, so we really wanted to have an outpost at Woodbury, with its strong, global customer base,” Snyder said. “This is an important location for us to introduce new customers to our brand and offer great deals to existing fans on first-quality merchandise that is coming directly from our Manhattan sales floor and other top doors.”
The shop will open with overstock from the spring 2016 season. “We’re a small brand and we want to limit distribution and not flood the market with a lot of markdowns,” he said.
There are no plans to open additional outlets at this point, he said. Rather, the concept and the store’s connection to American Eagle, “allows us to test the concept without doing a big lease deal.”
Snyder has a flagship store in the NoMad district of Manhattan that opened last year.
