TRAVEL PLANS: The first floor courtyard of the Academy Mansion on New York’s Upper East Side has a bit of an old country air about it, with its brick walkways and low-hanging clay tile roofs. On Thursday evening at a cocktail party in honor of Frida Giannini thrown by W magazine and editor in chief Stefano Tonchi, a low din of Continental accents and occasional wisp of cigarette smoke only added to the European vibe. A handful of socials and notables — including Georgina Bloomberg, Bella Heathcote, Rula Jebreal, Elettra Wiedemann and Rachel Zoe — turned out to rub elbows with the Gucci creative director, who was in town for cruise 2013 appointments.
In between chatting up guests, who also included Britt Marling, Jamie Tisch and Maggie Betts, Giannini explained her New York cultural itinerary. “Hopefully, I will have a few hours Saturday morning,” she said. “I really love to walk and Central Park is one of my passions….I have a strict plan Saturday morning to go to the Schiaparelli-Prada exhibition; then to see the Fontana exhibition at Gagosian and the Avedon one at the other Gagosian. I have a very busy agenda Saturday morning before leaving for the airport.”
