TREND IT LIKE BECKHAM?: Now that he’s retiring as a professional soccer player, might David Beckham get more of his kicks from clothes and beauty products?

A source close to the Englishman alluded to more potential involvement in fashion, saying, “Over the next year, we will see his business grow and expand. The sky is the limit, really, in terms of what he can do globally. Just look at what Victoria [Beckham] has done.”

A spokesperson for Beckham’s management agency, Simon Fuller’s XIX Entertainment, declined to comment on his retirement, but assured that Beckham would continue to work with H&M, Sky, Sainsbury’s and Adidas.

“David Beckham is a great sportsman and a great style icon, and to us that is how he will be looked upon also in the future,” said a spokesman for H&M, which collaborates with the soccer hero on a bodywear line. “We are very happy with the collaboration and look forward to launching the new collection this autumn.”

Beckham’s other current and past endorsements include Breitling, Emporio Armani underwear, Electronic Arts, Diet Pepsi, Yahoo, Castrol, Marks & Spencer, Motorola and Police sunglasses, making him the world’s eighth-highest-paid athlete in 2012, with $46 million in salary and endorsements, according to Forbes.

Beckham launched his first signature fragrance in 2005 with Coty Inc., which also is the licensee for Victoria Beckham’s perfumes. The golden couple launched the masterbrand Intimately Beckham in 2006. Among David Beckham’s recent scents was David Beckham Homme, which came out in September 2011.
