BEAUTY BEAT: Tweezerman’s mass beauty tool brand, Urban Beauty United, has teamed with Harley Viera-Newton, UBU’s brand ambassador, on the UBU All Girls on Deck DJ app and campaign for aspiring DJ’s. Launching July 1 with UBU’s e-commerce site,, the free app lets users mix their own music, create playlists and compete for prizes from the brand.
“We have partnered with Harley Viera-Newton to create the UBU All Girls on Deck DJ campaign and app to empower women, sending the message that with focus, dedication, the right tools and hard work they can achieve anything,” said Conny Wittke, chief executive officer and president of Tweezerman International.
The campaign, which also kicks off on July 1, is a four month-long competition where women can submit their mixes that they feel expresses urban beauty. Judged by Viera-Newton, the campaign winner will receive a photo shoot with the DJ, a professional UBU Vestax DJ Mixer, a set of JVC headphones and a laptop. Also, UBU’s site will feature an introductory video and interviews with Viera-Newton, beauty tips, tutorials, social media, DJ tips and tricks and a beginner’s guide to DJing to introduce the brand to women in the U.S.
“I’m always up for a bit of girl power and I am thrilled to join the UBU All Girls on Deck campaign,” said Viera-Newton. “I hope to inspire a few ladies out there to give it a go and to remind them it isn’t a boys world anymore!”
