WHITE OUT: Awaiting its reopening in spring 2013, Paris’s Musée Galliera has a few more off-site shows planned for the coming months under its director, Olivier Saillard. The fashion museum has been closed for works since summer 2009. Two small separate exhibitions are due to open simultaneously on April 13 at the Docks — Cité de la Mode et du Design site in Paris. “Cristobal Balenciaga, Fashion Collector” will present more than 70 historical garments collected by the late designer over his lifetime and later donated by his family to the Musée Galliera. Creating a dialogue with his own creations, the pieces will be shown alongside around 40 couture dresses and coats designed by Balenciaga between 1937 and 1968. Comme des Garçons’ Rei Kawakubo designed the scenography for the exhibition “Comme des Garçons, White Drama,” meanwhile, which will showcase her all-white spring-summer 2012 collection. Both shows will end on Oct. 7.
