EIGHT MORE YEARS: Despite claims that Under Armour’s Olympic speedskating suits may be hindering the performances of Americans competing in Sochi, the company has extended its partnership with U.S. Speedskating through 2022. Rather than let the deal lapse when it expires at the end of this year, the Baltimore-based company upped its commitment to remain the U.S. National team’s exclusive competition sponsor.
In an interview Friday with MSNBC, Under Armour founder and chief executive officer Kevin Plank said, “We want to make sure that our message is there and this is not just a one-and-done.” The brand will also continue to supply the American speedskaters with technologically-advanced training apparel, footwear and performance monitoring systems.
