UNIQLO’S SOCAL PUSH: Uniqlo has put an an end to the speculation about its store openings in Southern California. The retailer confirmed late Wednesday that it is entering the region in the fall with units at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Calif., and Beverly Center in Los Angeles. South Coast Plaza’s executive director for marketing Debra Gunn Downing said, “We are so pleased that Uniqlo has chosen South Coast Plaza for its first location in Southern California. Uniqlo is a globally recognized fashion brand that will resonate well with our shoppers both locally and from around the world.”

The Uniqlo location at Taubman Centers Inc.-owned Beverly Center will follow spring openings at the shopping center company’s properties Stamford Town Center and Sunvalley Shopping Center. “Our shoppers are going to love this brand,” said William Taubman, chief operating officer for Taubman. “We’re anxiously awaiting the spring openings at Stamford Town Center and Sunvalley Shopping Center and the fall opening in Beverly Center.” Fast Retailing-owned Uniqlo has more than 1,400 stores worldwide and 17 stores in the U.S.
