TEAM EFFORT: Japan’s Uniqlo will be supplying the uniforms for teams from several Asian countries for the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games, which will be held from January 29 through February 5 in PyeongChang, South Korea.
The fast-fashion brand will provide a total of about 4,900 items of clothing to athletes representing Japan, South Korea and Singapore. These include down and fleece jackets, fleece-lined cargo pants, and several items from Uniqlo’s popular Heat Tech line of thermal inner wear. The uniforms for each country are emblazoned with that team’s logo, with Japan’s featuring Mt. Fuji and cherry blossoms as motifs.
Uniqlo has supported the Special Olympics since 2002 through clothing donations and by sending employees to work as volunteers at the events.
