FAST AND LOYAL: Usain Bolt is not only the world’s fastest man — he is also loyal. The athlete has signed a renewed endorsement contract with Puma, the company said Tuesday.
Bolt and Puma go way back.
The Herzogenaurach, Germany-based sporting goods maker has partnered with the Jamaican runner, now 27, since he was 16 years old.
“They recognized my talent at an early age and have supported me throughout, especially in the early years, when I had some difficult times due to injuries,” said Bolt in a statement.
“Their work and commitment to Jamaica is also very important to me,” he added, referring to Puma’s efforts in fostering young talent through sponsorship of high school track-and-field programs, as well as various grass-roots activities in Jamaica.
Although no terms were disclosed, Puma chief executive officer Björn Gulden said Bolt would “play a crucial role in our future product concepts as well as brand communications leading towards the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 and beyond.”
