IN THE BAG: Valextra has a new designer director — accessories guru Alvaro Gonzalez, who said he is leveraging the brand’s “Italian craftsmanship to develop the Valextra of 2020,” and possibly also attracting a younger customer. For spring, Gonzalez introduced rounder and softer shapes on staple Valextra designs such as the Boston, which is now paired with the Milano, and a new evening clutch.
Gonzalez was previously style director of accessories at Jimmy Choo and has worked with Stuart Weitzman, Tod’s, Loro Piana, Emilio Pucci, Valentino and Genny.
