ALL FOR HAL: For those who think that fashion and food don’t mix, Thursday night’s Vera Wang-hosted dinner for Hal Rubenstein’s “100 Unforgettable Dresses” proved contrary. Held at foodie hotspot David Myer’s Comme Ca, the party drew Jessica Alba, Rachel Zoe, Perrey Reeves and Lisa Edelstein, who joined Wang’s pals (and former Vogue colleagues) Crystal Lourd and Stella Hall. “This isn’t on my regular six-restaurant circuit,” said Wang over cocktails. In her pre-dinner speech, the designer said of the author, “I can’t think of someone more enthusiastic or critical of me. Luckily we made it into the book.” Rubenstein returned her friendly jibe by mentioning the Kim Kardashian wedding dresses, to which Wang replied, “Oh please, stop. I’m not a marriage counselor.” Later, Alba recalled her best dress moment. “It was the first time I went to the Oscars and I wore Versace. You don’t need your mom telling you to put your shoulders back and stand up straight in that kind of dress. You want to. And the Oscars are the one time nobody’s going to tell you you’re overdressed.” But she and Olympian Evan Lysacek dressed down and let loose for the occasion. “I’m not a sit-down dinner kind of guy,” he said of his table-hopping. “I needed to go to the bar and do some shots.” Most guests were happy to stay in place until past 10 p.m., late by L.A. standards. “What can I say? It’s a late crowd. I’m a New Yorker,” said Wang.
