FINAL COUNTDOWN: The finalists for the second edition of the Dubai Design & Fashion Council prize are set to be announced today. The prize was launched last year in association with Farfetch.com as a platform to showcase emerging Middle Eastern design talent.
Last year’s partner was Style.com and this year’s is Vogue Arabia.
The 10 semifinalists are: Daneh Buahmed, Karoline Lang, Mira Hayek, Ayah Tabari of Mochi, Reema Albanna of Reemami, Farah Nasri of HKD – Hooked, Nathalie Trad, Aya and Mounaz Abdelraouf of Okhtein, Ralph Masri and Rula Galayini.
One ready-to-wear designer and one accessories designer will receive a collective award valued at $250,000, including a financial grant earmarked for production, an opportunity to sell their collections on Farfetch.com, and to Farfetch boutique partners such as Browns, Curve and Al Ostoura. In addition, they will receive mentorship and get to produce an advertising campaign.
The winners will be announced later this fall.
The selection committee is comprised of senior executives from Vogue Arabia, the Dubai Design & Fashion Council and Farfetch, as well as regional and international fashion industry names.
