Katherine McNamara in Wallflower's latest campaign.

Juniors resource Wallflower Jeans has tapped actress Katherine McNamara as its latest ambassador. McNamara is the star of Freeform’s series “Shadowhunters” and will also appear in the next installment of “The Maze Runner” film trilogy, “Maze Runner: The Death Cure.” The brand has previously worked with starlets Sarah Hyland, Olivia Holt and Bella Thorne.

“It’s not just about buying another pair of jeans, it’s about buying a dream,” said Nathan C. Mamiye, president of Wallflower. “All our ambassadors have a lot in common; they’re up-and-coming, generally wholesome and mom-approved. That’s very important for us as a brand.”

McNamara, a Missouri native, said she grew up wearing Wallflower and is proud to rep her first clothing brand. “It’s been a fun experience, although I’m not a natural model. For my first shot, they stood me on a swing and gave me a huge push, then I had to try and look natural while trying to keep my balance six feet in the air,” she laughed.

The new ads, shot in Malibu, Calif., will break in August for back-to-school and feature McNamara in the company’s staple denim items along with tops, dresses and jackets. Retail prices range from $40-$54 for denim, $54-$60 for jackets and dresses $24-$44 for sportswear.

Founded in 2008, Wallflower Jeans is a division of Mamiye Brothers, the New York-based manufacturer and marketer of children’s, junior and missy brands including Little Me, Angels, Kensie Jeans and Curve Appeal. The company has produced licensed apparel for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s kids’ wear line and Bongo.

“Katherine is a great role model for our loyal customer; she’s smart, beautiful and talented, and she graduated college [at age 17] by the time most people finish high school.” She is now pursuing a Master of Science in applied economics at John Hopkins University.

Wallflower’s key retail partners include Bon-Ton, Kohl’s and Meijer. The brand also licenses jewelry, watches and handbags and will add sleepwear and intimates and hosiery in fall and eyewear and shoes in spring 2017.
