TO THE POINT: Walter Van Beirendonck has signed his first collaboration with the National Opera of Paris’ ballet. He is designing costumes for its principal dancer Marie-Agnès Gillot’s first choreographed piece, “Sous Apparence.” Van Beirendonck, known for pushing fashion frontiers, wanted to blur gender boundaries with his costumes for the 20 artists performing.

Male dancers, for instance, will be in toe shoes and ballerinas are to be topless on stage. “Sous Apparence” will run at the Palais Garnier in Paris from Oct. 31 to Nov. 10.
