Maiyet + Warby: Warby Parker teamed up with fashion line Maiyet on a pair of sunglasses that will be introduced today on warbyparker.com, maiyet.com and in both brands’ stores.
The $145 frames — oversize with a subtle cat-eye shape — are called “Bird,” a reference to the neutral colors found in nature. They are available in three colorways: burnt honey with cream, black with striped oyster shell and striped oyster shell with black. Comprised from dual layered acetate and made in Italy, the frames retail for a bit more than Warby Parker’s main range of sunglasses, which start at $95.
“Maiyet’s commitment to design and the empowerment of local artisans is perfectly aligned with Warby Parker,” said Neil Blumenthal, Warby Parker’s co-chief executive officer and cofounder. In keeping with the eyewear company’s mission, a pair is donated for every pair sold. Maiyet is also making a contribution to nonprofit organization Nest, which helps train and develop artisan businesses.
This is not Warby Parker’s first designer collaboration. The brand teamed up in the past with Emily Weiss’ Into the Gloss, Karlie Kloss and Suno.
