WEB PLAYERS: Victoria Beckham and Diane von Furstenberg are teaming with two tech titans. Beckham is partnering with Skype on a collaborative project that will highlight five years of her brand and designs. Executives for both companies are releasing few details, although a Beckham spokeswoman said Skype will take a “unique approach” to telling the designer’s story. The designer also will interact with viewers, although how she will do that was also vague.

This is the first move into fashion by Skype, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2011 and logged nearly 300 million users in June.

Over at Google, the Council of Fashion Designers of America is working with the search engine giant on a new experience that will allow users to purchase from a Google+ Hangouts on Air app starting Oct. 3. Von Furstenberg will unveil the app that evening from her New York City studio, revealing three fashion trends and interacting with five of her fans, who can apply for the opportunity via dvf.com. Confirmed designers, including Rag & Bone’s Marcus Wainwright and David Neville, Rachel Zoe and Rebecca Minkoff, will be able to broadcast a product-centric multiperson video chat where viewers can browse collections they can purchase exclusively through Hangouts on Air.
