WILLING AND ABLE: Loomstate’s Scott Mackinlay Hahn, Melissa Joy Manning, Apple’s creative director Alan Dye and Whit’s Whitney Pozgay are among the collaborators joining forces with the socially responsible e-commerce site Able Made. They have created exclusive items for the e-tailer, which aims “to offer products that make others more able” by supporting select charitable causes.
A Loomstate hoodie, Whit clutch and Dye-designed UnderConsideration water bottle are among the items to be sold. Loomstate will also be behind Able Made’s private label, including the Able Made Power in Numbers T-shirt that can be preordered on the site. Twenty percent of the proceeds from that item will benefit the The Ucal McKenzie Breakaway Foundation, a foundation started five years ago by Able Made’s founder and chief executive officer Suzanne McKenzie.
In December, Able Made plans to open a pop-up shop in a yet-to-be disclosed store in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood and will help organize gifting parties and designer meet-and-greets during the holidays, she said.
