AN AMERICAN IN BERLIN: Picking up where Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney and most recently Tommy Hilfiger left off, Zac Posen has now picked up the baton as patron of Designer for Tomorrow. Now in its seventh year, the Europe-wide competition for emerging fashion talent is sponsored by the German specialty store chain Peek & Cloppenburg and its online fashion shop Fashion ID.
Together with the Designer for Tomorrow jury board, Posen will select the top five designers who will then present capsule looks at a runway show on July 9 during the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. The winner is to receive mentoring from Posen, the members of the Designer for Tomorrow advisory board and the Peek & Cloppenburg team, as well as the opportunity to stage a runway show in Berlin the following July.
At age 34, Posen is the award’s youngest patron to date. “It is an incredible thing to be able to actively support up-and-coming talent in the fashion industry and pass on my experiences and perspectives,” he commented.
