Kate Spade New York is taking its bows to the beach and polka dots to the pool deck.

After 21 years in business, the ready-to-wear and accessories brand — which has had a one-shot swim collaboration in the past — is committing to a partnership with New York-based licensee Swimwear Anywhere, which also manufactures swimwear for Michael Kors, Carmen Marc Valvo and Proenza Schouler, among other designers.
The cruise 2015 collection will have a soft unveiling in Miami as part of Swimwear Anywhere’s multibrand preview during swim week at the Delano Hotel. Its official launch will be in New York in early August, when Deborah Lloyd, Kate Spade’s president and chief creative officer, hosts a viewing event for buyers and press.
“This is such a fun opportunity to bring glamour back to the beach,” said Lloyd. “I am constantly inspired by the glamour that women brought to the beach in the Fifties and Sixties.”
Some 70 pieces in the inaugural collection include 52 mix-and-match separates, from bralettes and bow-themed bustier bandeaus to hipster and high-waisted bottoms; 12 one-pieces, and some cover-ups, like a pleated skirt in matching colors. The signature bow detail appears on gold metal-plated zipper pulls, maillots and in a black-and-white-check group. Other prints are split between signatures, like black-and-white stripes and balloon dots, and seasonal motifs such as regal plumes and Monaco florals. Solids include cream, blush, pool blue and black.
Tongue-in-cheek gold charms depicting swan dives and cannonballs adorn string bikinis. Other touches are hand-sewn beading, apparel-inspired structure and hidden closures.
The collection will start retailing in November at $120 to $200 through company-owned stores and in limited distribution to wholesale accounts.
