Anvil Knitwear Inc. has named Heather Stefani as executive vice president of marketing, a new position for the 100-year-old company, in which Stefani is responsible for directing corporate and product marketing programs, building overall brand awareness and managing communication and promotional activities.

Stefani, who reports to Anvil president and chief executive officer Anthony Corsano, will also oversee marketing strategies for new and existing product lines, and pursue sponsorship and licensing opportunities. She will work closely with the company’s product development, sales and corporate social responsibility teams to ensure that Anvil’s core sustainability message is preserved and enhanced.

“As Anvil continues to grow, it was critical to our multiyear business strategy that we have an individual of Heather’s caliber to lead Anvil’s marketing objectives,” said Corsano.

Stefani joins Anvil from The Ledgemoor Group, where she served as a small business consultant. Prior to that, she was vice president and general manager of apparel for Starter Brand and Mossimo Brand, both part of Iconix Brand Group. She has also had executive posts at Nike Inc. and Champion Athleticwear.

Anvil is known as an advocate and practitioner of responsible business practices and manufacturer of sustainable apparel with its AnvilOrganic and AnvilSustainable brands. Anvil has been ranked by the Organic Exchange as the world’s sixth-largest organic program for two years and is considered the largest domestic purchaser of U.S.-grown certified organic cotton.
