Cardi B x Fashion Nova

Fashion Nova and Cardi B are back together again for a second collaboration.

The 107-piece collection is set to launch May 8 and follows their first release in November. An announcement on the deal said the range draws inspiration from the Eighties and Nineties and includes cinched-waist silhouettes, leather corsets and latex.

The deal is another notch in the belt of the growing Cardi B brand, with the music artist — real name Belcalis Almánzar — more recently having struck a partnership with Reebok. That’s in addition to her work with Tom Ford, Steve Madden and Pepsi, as the Cardi B train continues to roll full steam ahead. She also surprised attendees with a performance at this year’s Revolve Festival, running concurrent with the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Even as her own brand continues to gain ground, it appears she’s studied well the playbook of Fashion Nova’s business and also actually wears the company’s clothes, applauding categories such as its denim for the fit.

“The Internet has so much possibilities, you gotta watch how these people are doing it. Everybody hate Fashion Nova, but me? I love Fashion Nova, but I remember when Fashion Nova started, I was watching the recipe,” she said to the audience at last month’s Beautycon in New York. “That is one of the most successful clothing brands. Watch that recipe. These bloggers, they making mad money out of y’all watching. Watch their recipe ’cause you could be doing the same s–t.”

The Los Angeles fast-fashion firm has steadily grown, largely operating under the radar and outside of the limelight of traditional press or advertising, steadily amassing a following through social media. Chief executive officer Richard Saghian told WWD last year that “overpriced fashion is dead” and asserted Fashion Nova is the “fastest-growing women’s apparel company.”

Fashion Nova counts 15.4 million Instagram followers and was the most searched for brand in 2017 and 2018 on Google.

Cardi B is set to perform at a launch party on May 8 for her collaboration with Fashion Nova.

The collection is priced from $29 to $99 and will be sold exclusively through Fashion Nova.
